"Quad 50"의 기본모델은 소위 M45 "quadmount"라 불리는 Multiple 50-Caliber (12.7mm) Machine Gun을 M20 trailer 설치한 형태이다. "Quad 50" Machine Gun Mount는 경량화된 대공무기로 미국 W. L. Maxon Company에 의해 개발되었다.
